Healing Starts with Understanding. Your Story Matters.
Hi, I’m Suzanne (pronouns: she/her), a psychotherapist working with individuals across Virginia and Indiana. I help people who grew up in difficult or emotionally painful families break free from self-doubt, shame, and people-pleasing, so they can finally feel comfortable being themselves.
If you’ve spent your life caring for others, feeling like you’re “too much” or “not enough,” or struggling to set boundaries, you’re not alone. The ways we learn to survive in childhood — staying small, keeping the peace, striving for perfection — can follow us into adulthood in ways that leave us feeling stuck, anxious, or disconnected. But these patterns don’t have to define you. Therapy is a space to understand your story, heal old wounds, and create new ways of being that feel more authentic and fulfilling.
How I Work
I take a psychodynamic approach to therapy, which means we’ll explore how your past experiences, especially early relationships, have shaped the way you see yourself, others, and the world. This isn’t about dwelling on the past, but rather making sense of it so that you can let go of patterns that no longer serve you. When we understand the deeper roots of our struggles, we can rewrite the old narratives that keep us stuck and move toward a life that feels more fulfilling.
Our work together will be warm, compassionate, and collaborative. I believe in the healing power of the therapeutic relationship. Having a space where you feel truly seen, heard, and understood can be deeply transformative. My goal is for you to leave therapy feeling more connected to yourself, more at peace in your relationships, and more confident in your ability to navigate life.
What You Can Expect
Therapy with me isn’t about quick fixes or surface-level solutions. It’s about meaningful, lasting change. Together, we’ll:
Increase self-understanding so you can recognize and shift unhelpful patterns.
Develop self-compassion so you can quiet that inner critic and treat yourself with more kindness.
Explore your relationships and attachment patterns to build deeper, more fulfilling connections.
Strengthen your boundaries so you can prioritize your needs without guilt.
Create space for healing so you can move forward with clarity, confidence, and self-acceptance.
You don’t have to keep carrying this alone. Healing is possible, and I’m here to support you every step of the way.
Ready to take the next step? Let’s connect.
When we work together, you can expect a warm, open, and affirming space where you can be your true self.
There's no judgment here!
